Finding the best car seats for your child:
To escape injury in an accident, you will need to pick a seat suitable for the child’s age and weight. They come in three main categories: infant, infant & toddler convertible and booster seats. Statistics show that most seats are installed incorrectly. Once you have purchased a seat make sure to follow the directions for proper installation.
Infant Car Seats:
A child under a year old needs to be secured in a rear facing seat. The disadvantage to buying an infant seat is that you will have to buy a convertible seat after your child reaches 20 pounds. An infant seat will cost between $60 and $150. If you are willing to spend more, there are plenty of extra options to choose from. Better quality material and cushioning, infant head inserts and boots, more recline positions and easier installation. Read more…

Products are recalled all the time for posing a danger to the people who use them. Even large, established companies have to make massive recalls, and when this happens we all notice. Who could have missed the series of Ford recalls for rollovers, defective door latches, and then Ford fires? But for every high profile recall there are hundreds of smaller, less noisy recalls of dangerous products every day. Possibly the most concerning of these are recalls of baby products. Your baby cannot tell you if he notices a problem with his high chair, and if you do not stay on top of recall notices you could be putting your baby in danger.
Child product recalls and baby product recalls are more common than we would like to think. Car seats, high chairs, strollers, and numerous other baby products are recalled frequently for different safety problems. Our first instinct when buying a new product for a baby is to tear it out of the box and figure out how to set it up. Stop! Before you assemble that high chair or buckle in that car seat, fill out the little papers that come in the box and mail them in. These product registration cards are very important because they let the company know you have their product. If the company later becomes aware of a problem or danger with the product, you will be the first one to know. Read more…

The experts often tell us that in order to ensure that our little ones are instilled with the correct knowledge so that they can learn to understand food and police there own diets, we have to be rigid and sustained in the healthy products we feed them. But what are the main rules when it comes to creating your child’s diet? The following points were taken from the American Academy of Paediatrics and the UK NHS guidelines on childhood nutrition, and have been specifically chosen for their relevance to parents of fussy toddlers.
Many adult diets encourage us to count calories, but with children that is not the best idea. There is a fine line between feeding a child properly, and becoming pernickety about the exact numbers that are passing through them. There are guidelines for calorie intake: Read more…

When you plan for a baby room decor, the best thing would be to give attention to detail. Choose the one which would look eye catching to your guests, pleasing to you and comfortable to the baby. A well lit room could be beautiful provided it does not affect or strain the baby’s eyes.
Moving on first to baby furniture?. Baby furniture consists of items which could make the baby sleep and eat comfortably. An ideal, comfortable crib (which could give it sound sleep), high chairs, night stands (to store baby items in one place), and changing tables make up a furniture set for the baby. Read more…

A new baby with colic is one of the most difficult problems a new parent has to cope with. Most new parents are under pressure trying to deal with a new routine and lack of sleep, the added burden of a crying infant you seem powerless to help can be overwhelming. The only comfort that can be offered is, with 1 in 5 babies developing colic, many other parents are suffering too and that by the time the baby is four months old the problem normally disappears.
The normal symptoms of colic are continuous loud crying, flexing and extending the legs, clenching fists and often a distended tummy. Very often this occurs in the late afternoon or early evening, although it can happen at any time. Read more…

Most babies and kids with reflux will have typical symptoms of reflux but some do not express any outward symptoms. They are referred to as having silent reflux. Their only symptom may then become asthma and many doctors may not realize the link between reflux and asthma so the reflux never gets diagnosed or treated. The child’s asthma can then be difficult to control with the normal medications.
One possible reason is the acid that comes up the esophagus can enter the airways, especially when lying down. This acidic refluxate can cause the airways to narrow and create the wheezing and shortness of breath associated with asthma.

Having carried a sizable bump around for a very long, very hot summer, I really wasn’t in the mood for a work out.
As Gwyneth Paltrow and all of my other coat-hanger thin celebrity peers snaked their way, all skin and bone about the tabloids, I scowled and knew that, even if the mood did ever take me as I sat covered in powered milk, I would just never have the time to get back in shape now that I always had my baby in toe. After all, its not as if I could balance Harry on the rowing machine as I made for the nearest treadmill ? I didn’t think they’d like that down at the health club. Read more…
