Breast Cancer
Among working women with newly diagnosed breast cancer, those treated with chemotherapy appear more likely to experience a major change in work status, study findings suggest.

With their pink boxing gloves, members of the Friends for a Cure team at the Shawnee/Lenexa Relay for Life were out to fight a foe much worse than Clubber Lang, Ivan Drago and Tommy Gunn.
To match the 1980s’ theme for this year’s event raising funds for the American Cancer Society, the team combined the three “Rocky” movies that came out in that decade with the fight against breast cancer, sporting shirts that read “Fight like a girl.” Their pink boxing ring in front of their tent at the all-night event helped them win an award for best decorated campsite. Breast Cancer
After a diagnosis of breast cancer, most women want to know where they fit into the statistics being quoted to them as reasons for submitting to the traditional toxic treatments being advocated by their oncologists.
Scientists in China are helping to further this understanding through research revealing a statistical breakdown of which forms of breast cancer are the most deadly, Breast Cancer and which may not be so dangerous. Any woman being pressured to accept chemotherapy, radiation, Breast Cancer and follow-drugs can use these statistics to empower herself and more accurately assess where she stands. Read more…

India may publicly be very cautious about not ruffling China’s prickly feathers but is slowly taking some steps to counter the stark. military asymmetry with its much larger neighbour. Build Muscle In the latest such move, the Army now wants a dedicated artillery division for the eastern front.

Build Muscle In 2006, Aaron Smathers, then 29, was a graduate student in the Department of Health and Exercise Science at the University of Oklahoma, gathering data for a study of brittle bones in cyclists. One of his subjects was himself, since he’s been a bike racer for years. A recent scan had revealed that his bones were less dense than usual for a man his age. Not long after those results came in, he crashed during a race, snapping his collarbone. Six weeks later, in his first post-injury race, he was engulfed by a multi-rider pile-up, crashed again, and re-broke his collarbone. Read more…

Elderly men who exercised and received the growth hormone known as “mechano growth factor” (MGF) showed increased muscle mass, according to a British study Build Muscle.
The results suggest that MGF may help treat age-related loss of muscle strength, which causes increased fragility, said Dr. Geoff Goldspink of the Royal Free and University College Medical School, who presented the study findings July 1 at the annual meeting of the Society of Experimental Biology in Glasgow, Scotland. Breast Cancer
Once again, Pfizer calls an early halt to Sutent research–and it’s not good news. The cancer drug failed as an add-on to chemotherapy in first-line treatment of colon cancer, the company said, proving no more effective than standard chemo alone.
“We are disappointed with this result, Breast Cancer but trial successes and failures are an integral part of cancer drug development and contribute to a growing body of knowledge on improving patient care,” Dr. Mace Rothenberg, head of clinical development and medical affairs for Pfizer’s oncology unit, said in a statement.
